
The
world famous Ravenglass
& Eskdale miniature railway terminates at Dalegarth Station,
just a few minutes walk from the campsite.
There are five pubs in the Eskdale valley, all offering
fine ales and good food. Three of the pubs are within walking distance
of the campsite - Brook
House Inn, the
Boot Inn and the Woolpack
Inn.
Other close by attractions include:
Hardknott
fort - A Roman fort connecting Eskdale with central Lakeland,
built between AD120 and AD138.
Fold End Gallery - Housed in a converted barn
in Boot. The Gallery has been exhibiting original pieces work since
1976.
Eskdale Mill - One of the few remaining (and operating)
two wheel water corn mills dating back to 1578
Muncaster
Castle - Has been of strategic importance since Roman
times when the Pele Tower was built, the castle extended over the
years is still the home of the Pennington family who where granted
the land in 1208.
